Aimed at building accessible legal services, the Special Initiatives Project is dynamic and constantly growing. Ongoing Projects 2023/2024
HUMAN RIGHTS PROJECT
Partnered with Alberta Human Rights Commission focussed to assist self-represented litigants take their cases to Tribunal Dispute Resolution or hearing before the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal.
TRANS-ID CLINIC PROJECT
Partnered with UofA Hospital’s Gender Program, The Trans ID Project seeks to assist individuals with the legal process of changing their names and gender markers. The Trans ID Project can help individuals complete the necessary documentation, and we offer free notarization services (typically once a month). There are no income requirements for the Trans ID Project.

WILLS CLINIC PROJECT
Partnered with Sage Senior's Centre to assist low-income elderly clients draft Wills, Power of Attorney, and Personal Directives.
PAST PROJECTS:
IMMIGRATION PROJECT
Partnered with Migrante Alberta to assist victims of human trafficking in making temporary residency applications.
CIVIL CLAIMS DUTY COUNSEL PROJECT
Partnered with ProBono Law Alberta to assist with providing self-represented litigants summary legal advice through volunteer lawyers.
King'S BENCH AMICUS PROJECT
Partnered with ProBono Law Alberta to assist self-represented litigants access summary legal advice with through volunteer lawyers and speak to matters in chambers.
FRENCH TRANSLATION PROJECT
Partnered with AJEFA (Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Alberta) to provide drafting and editing of documents in legal French.
WEBINAR PROJECT
Partnered with AJEFA (Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Alberta) to present legal webinars in French for local public schools.
LAWNOW MAGAZINE PROJECT
Partnered with CPLEA (Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta) to research and draft legal articles for publishing throughout the year in the LawNow online magazine.
CPLEA RESEARCH PROJECT
Partnered with CPLEA on a research project aimed at outlining challenges in the delivery of public legal information to visually impaired persons.
